Private Tutoring
One-to-one art tuition for children and adults, tailored to your pace, whether you’re working towards a portfolio or just want to improve your creative skills.
Learn, experiment, and make steady progress with one-to-one guidance.
Private art lessons, tailored to you
Whether you’re completely new to the arts, picking up a brush again after years, or just curious to try something creative, these sessions offer a relaxed, supportive space to explore. You can take things at your own pace, learning new techniques, building confidence, and enjoying the process of making without pressure.
For those working towards something more specific, I also support students in developing portfolios for scholarship and degree applications. I’ve helped students gain places at The BRIT School and secure scholarships to institutions such as Marymount International School, as well as guiding older students preparing portfolios for further study. Sessions focus on building a strong body of work and presenting it clearly and confidently.
With a background in art psychotherapy and an MA in Fine Art from City & Guilds London, I bring a thoughtful, supportive approach to teaching. I’ve helped students gain places at schools such as The BRIT School and secure scholarships to institutions including Marymount International School.
Lessons take place in my central Kingston upon Thames studio, offering a calm, focused space to develop your work, explore different techniques, and build a strong, personal body of work over time.
I can help with…
-
Build a strong foundation in drawing, from simple forms to more complex compositions. Focus on observation, proportion and perspective, and learn how to use light and shadow to create depth. Explore composition, mark-making, and different approaches to translating what you see onto the page.
-
Explore painting through watercolours and acrylics, from controlled techniques to more expressive approaches. Work with colour, layering and mark-making to build depth and atmosphere, and experiment with different ways of applying paint.
-
Oil and soft pastels offer a natural bridge between drawing and painting.
Work with colour, blending and layering to build depth, texture and more expressive images. -
Learn printmaking techniques including monoprint, drypoint and linoprint. Explore how to create images through line, texture and contrast, from spontaneous one-off prints to more controlled, repeatable designs.
-
Work with clay, textiles and recycled materials to make three-dimensional pieces. Shape, build and experiment with different approaches, from handbuilding with clay to more playful, mixed-material work. You can also have a go on a miniature throwing wheel to create tiny vessels!
-
Develop a body of work for a portfolio, from initial ideas through to final pieces. Work on generating, refining and selecting work, with a focus on cohesion, presentation and how everything sits together as a whole.
-
Prepare for art school, scholarships or creative courses at any stage. From younger students building foundational portfolios for school applications, to older students preparing for degree-level entry, focus on developing a strong body of work and presenting it with confidence.
Kind words from my students!
My daughter absolutely loves her art classes with Eva. Her confidence has grown so much, and she comes home excited to show us what she’s learned in her class. She is exploring techniques I never imagined she’d try at this age. What I appreciate most is the way Eva encourages my daughter’s individual style while still teaching solid skills. We’re incredibly grateful for such a talented, patient, and passionate teacher. Highly recommended.
Alejandra
“Eva has a natural gift for teaching. I have had a long career in graphic design and really wanted to tap back into a more raw form of making and working with analogue materials again. She has really broadened my horizons and even uncovered a new found love for soft pastels! If you’re thinking about some 1-1 private tuition, I really can’t recommend Eva enough.”
Hannah
“My kids and I take art lessons from Eva. Her projects are brilliant and creative. My children are always happily engaged with each project. Eva has a very pleasant manner of interacting with all of us and we eagerly wait for the next lesson.”
Emily
“Every time we do a project it outdoes the last one; ever interesting! Miss Eva always makes the projects fun and easy and, the outcome looks professional.”
Nathanael (10yo)
“I love Miss Eva's art class. You're the best art teacher. And I love the cool art that you have in your mind. By far I loved the red panda project the most. xoxoxoxoxoxo”
Bethel (7yo)
I’m so grateful for every person who books a private lesson with me, and even more grateful when they take the time to share their experience. Have you had a session with me? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
